Instant New Priority

During this last election cycle the Republican candidates hammered the current Administration that the top priority in the USA is JOBS! They were hopping mad that the President spent time on health care reform when they felt jobs were a higher priority.

Today I'm hearing the top priority of Republicans now is repealing the Health Care Reform.

What?? I thought it was Jobs?! Why don't you focus on JOBS - as you promised?!

For the record, let it be pointed out that it is you, not me, that seems to be implying that Democrats are intellectually incapable of focusing on more than one issue at a time.

Republicans don't have that problem.

Additionally most Republicans understand the relationship between jobs, a strong economy, and the negative economic effects of much of "Obama-Care" (something else that many Democrats apparently do NOT seem capable of understanding).

It is widely accepted that this election was a referendum on, and a stunning rejection of, Obama-care.

Republicans campaigned relentlessly on that theme; if you weren't paying attention, well then, that is hardly their fault, is it?

You are correct! The Republican party has indeed made it abundantly clear that they do not care about poor people without health insurance. Or people without an income.

That's why I'm a Democrat. I do care.

You say that you "care" about people without health insurance or people without an income.

And yet you support policies that will make health insurance more expensive, less availlable, and of lower quality, and policies that would create less jobs and more unemployment.

Maybe telling everyone that you "care" makes you feel better about yourself, but for my part, I think I'd rather just support policies that will actually help people to get jobs and create wealth so that they can afford good quality health care.

I'd be satisfied with that...whether people think that I ''care" or not, really isn't something that I spend a lot of time obsessing over.

Most Republicans won't feel bad that they are leaving 35 MILLION people without health insurance again. As I said before - no compassion.

Republicans want to live in a free society where everyone is prosperous and the opportunity to succeed exists for anyone who is willing to strive for it.

Democrats want a form of feudalism where a massive bureaucratic elite controls the life choices and destinies of a dependent underclass of Serfs.

I'll be quite content to leave it to the judgement of history, and of all good hearted, clear headed people, as to which of those alternatives is truly "compassionate".

That would be your view. My view is that Republicans want government out of business and back in the bedroom or tapping my phone and internet communications so they can sell more products.

We have seen the consequences of unregulated business. We are recovering from the consequences of unregulated business. I'm just your basic average dude - I can't afford any more Republican pro-business, screw the people policies.

Well, yeah...that's the problem here, isn't it; your view is based on a hyper-partisan idealogical cartoon that has precious little basis in reality.

Isn't that what I've been telling you all along?

Andre - please look in the mirror when you say that. Seriously. There is nothing more hyper-partisan and ideological than the Republican Machine with the help of fox news (which sadly I've been forced to watch these last few weeks at work).

Regarding Fox news: Here is a challenge for you. Go back and look at the panel of commentators that Fox, CNN, and MSNBC had on doing there election night coverage last Tuesday.

Fox had an equal mixture of Conservatives and Liberals, CNN had mostly Liberals, and MSNBC had ALL hyper-partisan Liberals.

No honest observer could deny that, on that evening at least, that FOX was the "fair and balanced" network.

I wasn't watching any televised news that night (I had the sound off on this stupid TV at work) I was following several on-line sources.

But I'm not talking about Fox news on election night - I'm talking about them every other night. From what I have read about them lately, they are struggling with legally being able to be called a news station. That from a Wikipedia article I was reading (I know - anyone can update those).

And you are right about MSNBC - They do lean way left - although not as far off center as Fox in my opinion.

BTW - your fellow PAC commentors on the on-line news sites like USA today are sure busy! I have no doubt they will convince the independent voters of their craziness by the next election - although I would have thought that was clear if they were reading all this time.
